Preview the app as another role
You want to check what a teammate will see before you give them a role. For example, whether a Field Ops user will see budgets, or what Leadership gets on the dashboard. View as shows the portal with that role's menus and buttons, without signing out or creating a test account.
Before you start
- You need to be signed in as the owner or an admin.
- An admin can preview every role except owner. The owner can preview every other role.
Steps
In the top bar of the company portal, click View as. It sits next to the light and dark mode switch.
Pick a role. Each one has a line saying what that role can do. The page reloads.
Move around the portal. A purple bar at the top reminds you that you are previewing, and which role.
When you are done, click Stop viewing as in the purple bar.
Result
The portal goes back to your own role. Nothing about your access, or anyone else's, changed while you previewed.
NOTE
View as changes what the portal shows: menus, tabs and buttons. The data on each screen still comes back for your real role. So a screen can show figures the previewed role would not get. To see a role's data exactly, ask a teammate who holds that role. The full list of what each role can do is in Roles and access.
The roles you can preview
